PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Hello Everyone!

As we start another year I would like to take a moment to look back at our accomplishments in 2011. We hosted our most successful Young Eagles Event ever, had a great fly-in and saw several new members take flight for the first time. This was topped off with an awesome holiday party! Needless to say that none of this would have been possible without the dedication of many of our members. I would like to thank our Young Eagles coordinators, Steve Donahue and Mike Forand, all of the pilots and others who volunteered their time and aircraft for our event. Special thanks go out to Donna Forand who not only chaired our Fly-in this summer, but also teamed up with our newsletter editor, Donna Butts, and her daughter Tracy, to put together the best holiday gathering in the club's recent history! Donna Forand's sister-in-law, Johnann Forand, made the beautiful center pieces that were a great hit. Last year will be a tough act to follow, but I believe we have a great organization going here and will make 2012 even better.

This month we will host a presentation by Frank Nowak on the building of his Nieuport biplane.

I hope to see you all there.

Fly Safe,

Mike

Condition Inspection Checklist

Randy Moore has supplied a checklist that worked well for him in the annual condition inspection of his experimental airplane. It's derived from the FAA regs and the sample on the EAA website.

When Randy went up for his Repairman's Certificate, the inspector liked seeing it.  It probably should be in your materials to show at the Repairman's Certificate "interview" along with your build log.

Randy says the inspector will want:
1. Proof of age - driver's license or pilot's license
2. US citizenship - Passport
3. Picture of the data plate and airplane
4. Copy of the Airworthiness Certificate
5. Copy of Registration
6. Form 8610-2 (2 copies) be careful to fill out EXACTLY like the sample in AC65-23A
7. Copy of Operating limits - copy of logbook entry for certification
8. Bill of Sale or copy of the builder's affidavit
9. While it's not strictly required that you complete the 40 hr. phase 1 test, they'd like it.
10. Copy of logbook entries for certification (bring logs - make sure you have a separate log for the engine)

Thanks, Randy, for submitting this info and checklist!
